The Rise and Fall of the Luminoth
are there any ingsmashers or quads left over from the war because i am currently searching for replacements after samus killed off our elite pirates and the ingsmashers would work nicely

Samus destroyed most of them herself, and I ‘hate’ to dissapoint you but I myself had a great hand in getting rid of all the rouge machines that had killed Luminoths. It would be disrespectful to those who had fallen to not do that.

The way I see it, they killed Luminoth and even if some of them had been returned to their normal state they had our races blood on their hands and we had created them. They had to be destroyed for this reason, mainly. but also because they were a gruesome reminder of the war, we have no desire to smash anything now because we must find a way to live peacefully.

The same applies to quads. The Sanctuary Fortress is home to the robots that do not harm, but repair and help us thrive.

Perhaps in time we will have weapons of war once again but now it’s something we shudder to think about. So many casualties on our side have lead us to this peaceful path for as long as we can make it last.

I confess myself to be surprised to hear from you, Ridley, because after our race joined the Galactic Federation we have been allowed to look at certain files on those who made war on our planet and found a link to you in space pirate files, then we found out that samus had reported you as deceased.

Sanctuary Fortress

The First Machine Helpers

Water from the seas were brought to Agon and the Temple Grounds by pumps and then filtered. This allowed water to be brought into homes. But water alone wouldn’t fix the problem, so these creatures could scan Luminoths using thermal technology and then turn water they got from the house supplies into a vapour, which meant things could be wet but in times of the hot season that would keep the temperature cool.

Ideas were thrown about among the people and scientists of using robots for other tasks. If we had generators for light or a weapon production facility then they could run it. We had been told to be able to defend ourselves after all.

A new feeling was in the air, that the world was changing. Something was coming to Aether – it was only a matter of time.

The setting of the Sanctuary Fortress was in-between two mountains at the highest point of that region, which would make it harder to attack.

It took many years, but when the Fortress was completed [though lacking future improvements at the time] robots could run many parts, cleaning tunnels and making sure wired embedded in each system was working.

We had a first genuine achievement in our advances in machinery. It was the first of many, magnetic rails were quick to follow.

So since the first temple had been built, and was safe to live in during all seasons, Torvus Bog was the only area without any forms of houses. It was just asking to be explored, somewhat exploited and recorded (lists of creatures and plants for instance).

A large party went there during the season they could when it wasn’t flooded beyond belief and set about recording data, trying to find a way in which houses could be put there without sustaining water damage. There had to be a way that machines could help lessen the amount of water we had to deal with in grounds that would otherwise be suitable for building homes.

U-Mos, what exactly can you recall about your mother, V-Mos?

I can recall much. She was kind, thoughtful -mostly to me it must be said- and made sure when I was growing up I got to see the different parts of Aether, and that I didn’t feel confined just to the Temple Grounds.

She was quite old fashioned, and didn’t fully understand the machines in the Sanctuary Fortress no-matter how many times I tried to explain some to her.

If she was in an argument, she wouldn’t admit defeat until shown proof (which in one instance involved a long and dangerous trip to Torvus to show her that the Hydrodynamo Station had indeed flooded).

She had an unfortunate liking towards poisonous plants, such as the blueroot tree and when the Ing attacked first she could not run fast because she had been stung by a blueroot tree in an area of her leg where there was an open wound. She tragically lived her last days in pain before she was killed by the first wave of the Ing that came from Dark Aether.

Temple Grounds

Agon Wastes

Torvus Bog

In time, we established settlements in the green forest of Torvus and in the fertile plains of Agon. A Great Temple was built between our three domains, a place of peace and a monument to our accomplishments. It was a time of harmony for our people.

The settlements in Agon became unsafe. It was at the hottest time of year on Aether. The metal buildings started to expand with the heat but most of all just be too hot to bear, like walking inside a volcano.

The second camp had to temporarily abandon the base there until a cooler season came along.

As we Luminoth are a race who walk around without clothes, just our protected bodies and fur on our stomachs it was far too hot.

As for the first, they noticed that the similar sandy environment of the Temple Grounds was like the depths of a Chozo’s colony of their home world of Zebes, it is recorded that Norfair was the definition of heat and set one poor Luminoth’s wings on fire when he spent too long there [Over 30 seconds].

The camps obviously needed somewhere stable to settle down in, and Torvus was too flooded to build in at that moment. If we built floating settlements, doors would let water in. Water would be impossible to get out of buildings - there was no way to extract it or pump it out!

The mountains were the only place left for the Luminoth. They used lasers to cut away rocks in the middle sections of the mountains, trying to be careful. The heavens were on their side, for our race now had made caves without rockfalls.

Maybe Aether knew that they intended to settle down and was trying to give them a fighting chance.

For months, our race lived in the welcome cold of the caves in the mountains and when the two camps returned to Agon and  Temple Grounds.

Oh, if I had lived during the wonderful period that followed. Doing my part in the war and seeing that my planet was safe, as well as my people, was, in the end, the best for my heart but how technology grew then!

The heat lessened in intensity and G-Cbe decided to dump some of the rocks we cut out of the cave structure and put them in some areas of Torvus, then we would use sand to fill them in and be able to build on the Bog.

Now Luminoth could live in Torvus, with fresh supplies of water when boiled. The next problem our race faced was how to cool down houses in Agon or the Temple Grounds during the next period of extreme heat.

Did you know that a few Space Pirates were secretly Luminoth?

Our race can live whatever way they want to. Most have lived the way they were born to, peacefully and taught to stay in the light - literally because of the war and mentally. A while ago however some unfortunately became…unbalanced by the sudden attacks by the Ing and I assume some must have joined the space pirate army.
